WHO WAS FRANK WILCOX?
Frank Reppy Wilcox was born in De Soto on March 13, 1907, the son of a
railroad worker and law clerk. He went on to become one of the most
prolific character actors in Hollywood, appearing in more than 400 films
and television programs in a career that spanned five decades.
The film festival named in his honor will celebrate this year the work and career of Erik Estrada, including his role as "Ponch" on the classic television series "CHiPs." Estrada's career is very similar to Frank Wilcox, in that he played many character roles in classic 1970s TV shows like Baretta, Barnaby Jones, The Six Million Dollar Man, Kojak, Mannix and Hawaii 5-0. His co-star on CHiPs was also a Wilcox--Larry Wilcox--who went onto fame as a Hollywood director and producer.
This year's festival has a motorcycle theme, which is why we're proud to have Surdyke Harley Davidson as the title sponsor. A complete schedule of activities will be updated soon on the tabs above. We'll see
