WHO WAS FRANK WILCOX?
Frank Reppy Wilcox was born in De Soto on March 13, 1907, the son of a railroad worker and law clerk. He went on to become one of the most prolific character actors in Hollywood, appearing in more than 400 films and television programs in a career that spanned five decades.
This year the film festival named in his honor will celebrate the work and career of George Wendt, who portrayed the lovable Norm Peterson for 11 seasons on NBC's hit show Cheers.

Wendt has hosted Saturday Night Live twice, and has appeared multiple times on SNL as one of the Chicago super fans rooting for "Da' Bears." He's one of the most prolific character actors of a generation, and his 40-year career has seen him on shows like M*A*S*H, Taxi, Hart to Hart, Alice and Soap.
